"If you can't catch what you want...
                        you'll catch what you need..."

(Rolling Stones)
A couple of days after the October M&G I had wanted to explore the South River.  Unfortunately reports hadn't come in too successful from the group's gathering. Another member, N...fly had a nice video and had caught a blue or two.    Encouraged by the catching of some blues I decided to venture to the Home Port Launch in search of blues... or well, as it goes, anything.

After a mid morning launch, meandering back and forth along Church Creek nothing was showing on the fish finder.  At the mouth of the creek there were more favorable observations.
Exploring out the South River I explored some possiblities along docks and other creeks.  Most sitings on the sonar were showing up at the mouth of creeks in deeper areas.    Around noon I saw a handful of birds working an area and paddled to it,  and began working a point going back and forth between five foot to twenty foot depths.  And then it happened... fish on!
I had on the line a total of ten fish... I had two double hook-ups, but lost a fish on each of those doubles.   Thus netting eight fish all legal size in the twenty inch size.   Well.... no blues... but some times... ya just catch what you need.   Beautiful day... light winds.. little boat traffic.
